This project originally started the day I made a playlist which included instrumental trip-hop tracks that to me had an eerie sound to it. I decided to pick tracks that put my mind up to the cold north, far away and alone, deep into the forest and high up in the mountains. That was how this project was born, in the beginning I didn’t think it later would be me who’d make the music. I’ve been keen to make my own music for a while and saw this as a good opportunity. The concept was the same, to put peoples mind into this haunting location, which would be reflected in the music. The sound needed to be freezing. I’d include elements such as icicles to give the illusion of where the music was taking place, full of cold nights and sometimes avalanches. A recurring theme was the sound of winter storms, and I think this EP is just as much a soundscape as it is trip-hop. There are also elements of depression and loneliness I think, which works in a way, when you’re feeling blue in the fog. I researched facts about some winters as well to really put my mind into it, and I began to read about the year without a summer. I ended up really liking what this location sounded like and decided to release it, sharing with you a place that to me is scary, but also a place where you can see caribou dance and the northern lights flicker in the dark. I don’t know where this location is, but it is definetily someplace far north.
